PRESCHOOL SCREENING
C.C.I.C., Inc. partners with area preschools to provide parents the opportunity for screening of speech, language, hearing and vision skills for children between the ages of three and six years of age. The screenings provide information to parents concerning normal versus delayed development.
The standardized screening test includes an assessment of articulation (sound production), receptive language (understanding), and expressive language (verbalization). Voice quality and fluency of speech are additional areas of note during the screening procedure. Recommendations are made for complete diagnostic evaluation at C.C.I.C., Inc. if a child does not perform at age level on the screening assessment.
Hearing screening includes pure tone audiometric testing to assess hearing acuity as well as tympanometric testing to assess middle ear functioning. Children who do not pass the hearing screening are rescreened at no additional charge a few weeks after the initial screening. Children who fail the re-screening are referred to their primary care physician for follow up.
C.C.I.C., Inc.’s vision screening utilizes Snellen charts to assess visual acuity. Any child who does not pass the vision screening is referred to their primary care physician for follow up.
